Any talent or skill bestowed upon an individual is a divine gift that the Supreme Being grants to everyone. However, it is crucial to have a conducive environment and opportunities for nurturing and showcasing that talent. Bahadar Singh was blessed by God with a talent for sports, specifically football, and he had the privilege of studying and playing football in Mahilpur. The sports wing of Mahilpur nurtured many football players, including coaches Ali Hasan and former Principal Jagtar Singh Minhas. With their dedicated guidance, Punjab won the National Schools 1989-90 Football Championship after 35 years. Bahadar Singh also played as a speedy and goal-hungry forward in that team. It is not known which magical skill he possessed that allowed him to control the ball and put it effortlessly through the opponent's goal. Hats off to this young and talented athlete.
This talented footballer achieved great success at a young age. Perhaps there may not be a competition where his bravery is not discussed. He handles the ball like a dart. It's only when he announces a long-range goal that everyone takes notice and admires his skills. He possesses a strong and sturdy body, but on the field, he doesn't spare anything. His focus is solely on scoring goals. Bahadur Singh, a centre forward for the J.C.T. Phagwara Club, was born in Bhagtupur village near Mahilpur in his mother Kuldeep Kaur's lap. He didn't limit his fame to just his village but elevated the pride of all Punjabis. He pursued his studies in the fifth class at Gurudev Singh's renowned village Kharar Achharwal before joining Mahilpur School. Bandana Singh, a hardworking coach in Kharar Achharwal, had provided him with the opportunity to participate in the Subroto Mukherjee Cup. His hard work and the coach's efforts paid off as he became adorned with honors at a young age. Surinderpal Singh, a poet from his village, and Pami Khushhalpuri, a renowned figure in the literary world, have already gained fame. Gurudev Singh Chandgi had many special achievements by defeating several famous footballers in various competitions.
In 1988-89, this talented player emerged as the best footballer in the National School Games held in Maharashtra, even at a young age. He consistently performed exceptionally well and became the top scorer in the tournament. He never lagged behind and continuously excelled in his performance. When he joined J.C.T. Football Club, they won the Durand Cup in 1992, where he scored the most goals. He then played in the Rovers Cup in Mumbai and the Federation Cup in Kolkata. Representing J.C.T., he was declared the top scorer in the Malaysian League. In the 1993-94 D.C.M. Trophy football tournament, his team, Bahadur, secured the second position, and he became the top scorer in the tournament as well. Apart from several other famous football tournaments, he also held the title of the highest scorer in the Mahilpur Football Tournament, surpassing Pr. Harbhajan Singh. He consistently proved his excellence in sports and achieved remarkable feats in the football world, making Punjab proud.
