Narinder Singh Minhas
In the village of Paldhi, Hoshiarpur district, Narinder Singh Minhas excels in playing football and represents the Indian national team. His father, Parmjeet Singh, is a goalkeeper in the Punjab Police. The domestic and village environment played a significant role in shaping him into a footballer from his childhood. The supportive atmosphere at Sant Atar Singh Khalsa Senior School further nurtured his talent. Whenever he kicks an object along his path, he showcases his skills. Born on May 9, 1981, Banti, currently residing in Canada, is the son of Police Inspector S. Balbir Singh Minhas and Mata Jaswinder Kaur. In 2009, he got engaged to Rajwinder Kaur, a beautiful and virtuous woman, and later settled in Canada with her. Even there, he actively contributes to the love for football by participating in the Vancouver United Football Club. Football runs through his veins, and he passionately embraces it. He envisions turning his daughters, Komalpreet and Prabhleen, into footballers as well.
When he joined D.A.V. College, Hoshiarpur, Jharmal Singh took charge as the coach and excelled in training the sports team. He played a significant role in uplifting the college's sports field. He also represented Punjab University team after three consecutive years of playing at the inter-college level. Jharmal Singh takes pride in mentioning that Khalsa College, Mahilpur's team never defeated them. The D.A.V. College team achieved this feat after a gap of 13 years in 2001. In the same year, they participated in the National Football Championship held in Jammu and secured the runner-up position for Punjab. Jharmal Singh's talent caught the attention of Punjab State Electricity Board's team, and he joined them as a guest player. Observing his skills, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi and Parminder Singh recruited him in the JCT Club in 2003. From there, his career soared higher as he participated in various competitions, both in India and abroad. He won several championships like the IFA Shield, DCM Cup, Durand Cup, and Roverz Cup. In 2005, he played in the National Football Championship, Santosh Trophy, held in Kerala. In 2006, he was selected again for the Indian team. The team participated in the Asian Cup Qualification Tournament and toured countries like Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Yemen, and others. The same year, after a gap of 18 years, Punjab won the Santosh Trophy by defeating West Bengal in the final with a tiebreaker.
